When it comes to outfits, I always love a little preppy action. A good sweater vest, dress shirts, mini skirts, some loafers… give. it. to. me. All of it. I love to mix up classic styles and really make them my own. It’s all in the details…

This outfit is a major go-to for me when I’m on the run, have to look like I have my life together (key words: “look like”), and just know that pumps aren’t going to cut it. Have you tried speed-walking on cobblestone in Gastown in heels? Yeah. Nightmare.

It’s so easy to juj up a simple look with some fun shoes or accessories. I wanted to keep the outfit classic, neutral and chic, without looking boring. So, in comes the messy pony and some furry pom pom slip-ons. Easy as that.

As for the outfit itself, I actually think my favourite piece is my mini sweater vest, which really gives my plain white button-down some shape and contrast.

I’m also not the biggest accessorize-r —even though I love accessories—  so I decided to opt for a structured, military-style peacoat with gold buttons to make it stand out a little more.

And there you have it, my take on a classic daytime look with a preppy feel.

Before I wrap up, I wanted to mention how excited I am to be back on the blog. Honestly, what encouraged me to return to Es de la Mode, is actually not a “what”, but a “who”. My brother. He has never failed to remind the importance of pursuing my passions, especially as life continues to get busier. So, in an effort to build more balance in my fast-pace, career-driven world, I will be spending more time creating, and I am so looking forward to it!

For those who followed Es de la Mode when I first started a couple of years ago, thank you & welcome back! And for those who are new to my little creative corner on the internet, thank you so much for stopping by. I hope to make this a space where I can connect, create, and inspire others to express their individuality.

Until next time –

xx, Es
